WELLNESS: Before You Ring In the New Year, Say ‘Good Riddance’ in Times Square

TIME TO LET IT GO: OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW FOR 2013
Got a lot of baggage from 2012? Well, today’s you’re lucky day because you can dump it all in Times Square! In 2007, Worldstudio designed a logo for a Times Square Alliance event launched just days before the start of the new year. Since then, Good Riddance Day has attracted crowds of tourists and native New Yorkers who are more than ready to shed clutter in their lives from the previous year and look forward to a clean slate.
Whether you’re bidding farewell to pink slips or parking tickets, credit cards or Valentine’s Day cards, your bad memories from 2012 will be destroyed, according to Times Square Alliance’s Web site. A Cintas secure, mobile shredding truck along with a dumpster and sledgehammer will help you get rid of any “distasteful, embarrassing and downright depressing memories,” event organizers noted. Good Riddance Day gets underway noon-1 p.m. at Broadway Plaza between 43rd and 44th Streets.
Can’t make it to Times Square, but still need to vent? Go online and share those “bad memories, crazy ex-bosses, loathed music, over-exposed celebrities, corrupt politicians, fashion disasters and ill-fated romances – anything from 2012 to which you’d like to say “Good Riddance!”
