FASHION: NYC Fashion Week Streamlines the Runway Experience
WATCH IT LIVE: EXCLUSIVITY TAKES A BACKSEAT AT MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK
Forbes published a great piece on how to navigate the maze of things to do and people to see during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which runs Feb. 7-14 in New York. USAToday covered the celebs on hand Wednesday night at amfAR‘s annual gala for AIDS research. But, what really grabbed my attention this year is the tech-savvy, hands-on approach Fashion Week designers and execs are taking by live streaming the Fall 2013 Collection at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park on MBFW’s official site, Twitter and Facebook.
Talk about making high fashion accessible to the masses. No secret front row seats are hard to come by, as the New York Times recently reported. Yet, the undeniable influence of social media levels the playing field across industries and haute couture met its match. One exception: YouTube, which has live streamed NY Fashion Week shows for the past three seasons, will not this season, a spokesperson for the Google-owned video site confirmed to Mashable earlier this week.
