Kerri Chandler is the man. Seriously, as in capital ‘S’ on his chest capable of all sorts of epicness on the decks. So, it’s only fitting one of dance music’s most legendary DJ/producers would pull off one of “those” legendary nights at one of Gotham’s legendary clubs. In a rare New York City appearance, Chandler brought his A-game and worked the crowd into a frenzy at Cielo for the Feb. 28 birthday bash honoring Mike Nervous of the long-standing record label bearing his name.
DJ and nightlife editor Bruce Tantum’s interview in Time Out New York set the stage ahead of the Nervous party, discussing Chandler’s New Jersey roots, his Ibiza residency and that now infamous YouTube clip at the Rex Club in Paris. Chandler was all smiles at the New York event, with opening sets by Alix Alvarez and Kim Ann Foxman (formerly of Hercules & Love Affair). Sorry if you missed this one; Chandler blew the roof off with wall-to-wall selections of deep House beats and by 3 a.m. it was hard to pull anyone away from the floor.
