RISE OF THE SUPERFANS AT NY COMIC CON
Yes, superfans have returned to their lairs, major players in the entertainment industry have packed up their wares and things are back to normal in Gotham City … or is it? Buzz surrounding New York Comic Con 2012 lingers after the annual comic book and pop culture convention which finished with a big bang and all that glitters (Oct. 11-14). More than 100,000 converged on Jacob K. Javits Center, armed with geek chic fervor and a wild assortment of Sci-fi/fantasy costumes and elaborate Cosplay outfits.
Besides fans galore, the four-day event (now in its seventh year) featured prime autograph signings with the likes of Carrie Fisher and Adam West, exclusive screenings and celebrity panels covering the gamut in comics, TV, film, video gaming and much more. My biggest gripe: those ridiculously massive lines and marathon waiting sessions for … fill in the blank (panels, autographs, screenings, food, bathrooms, etc.). Albeit expected by most of us over the years, honestly, fans deserve better _ plain and simple.
Now for the big reveal: here’s some of the hijinks from this year’s NY Comic Con show floor and Artist Alley (link below to photo gallery by Tania Fuentez Media). Stay tuned …
