SENSE OF COMMUNITY: FEATURED PICTORIAL BY JOAO LAMANCHA VALENTE  (LISBON, PORTUGAL)

Often we go about our daily lives with little thought beyond what’s most familiar. Just for a moment, step outside the box. Whether poignant or mundane, day-to-day experiences in faraway places still connect, evident here in scenes of local residents of São Tomé e Príncipe, including the close-knit community of the Angolares who have fished the Gulf of Guinea for centuries.

This is the third installment of my Guest Blog series of posts featuring images by JoLaVal Photography. Regardless of our diverse backgrounds or wherever you call home, we all relate to a sense of community and the human condition.
