MUSIC: ‘Renaissance’ Man Marcus Miller Plays to His NYC Roots

Listen up, music lovers! Acclaimed composer/producer and jazz legend Marcus Miller returns to his hometown for a sold-out show tonight at the Highline Ballroom. I could go on and on about his illustrious 30+ year career and far-reaching influence on musicians around the world. But, he modestly sums it up best in the following YouTube clip, which was shot in the studio while recording his latest album, Renaissance. “What I’m really looking for, especially on this record, is the interaction,” Miller says. “The kind of humanity … going back to that feeling of musicians interacting with each other and the magic that comes from that.”

I’m especially proud to share this on my blog because no matter where my cousin’s travels take him over the course of our lives, family remains close to heart and he’s been there for us. Thanks for all the inspiration and some seriously tasty tunes which have sustained me through the peaks and valleys!
