Excitement is building this weekend with the return of South Africa’s beloved son, DJ Black Coffee, to New York for a special performance during Central Park’s SummerStage concert series. The free event on Father’s Day (June 15) promises to be stellar, with a lineup including DJ Spoko and Electrafrique uniting for Okayplayer’s 15th anniversary. The much-anticipated show is dedicated to celebrating 20 years of freedom and democracy in South Africa and National Youth Month, in collaboration with the South African Consulate General-N.Y.
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has amassed awards and acclaim over the years as the Durban-born producer takes the global dance music scene by storm. His distinctive remixes dominate international charts while an impeccable style of DJing effortlessly impresses fans around the world.
